SPOTTING THE INTRUDER

ASD Superyacht Crews Training Courses

Spotting the Intruder - Superyacht Course

There are several occasions where one or more persons board the yacht without the permission by the Captain, the Ship Security Officer or other crewmember designated by the Captain. According to the International Law an intruder is someone who “sneaks into someone else's territory without permission”. May refer to someone who enters a place without permission with the purpose to commit an unlawful act or to someone who is in a place or situation where they are not allowed.

More in particular, a ship intruder can be a thief or a stowaway. Furthermore, and for the purposes of this course, any person who is seeking a hide onboard with an, in most of the cases, unknown intention, will be considered as an intruder.

Identifying and dealing with an unwanted person onboard requires constant vigilance and proper training.

This course provides all the necessary actions to be taken and procedures to be followed by the crew in case of indications that an intruder is on board when either alongside or at anchor/underway.

After the course crewmembers will be in a position to better safeguard the vessel from unauthorised entrance, search for a possible intruder in an organized and efficient manner and confine the intruder.
